Bethel Mission Society was founded in 2002 by Rev. Mahesh Kumar Verma and his wife Rebecca Verma at Paliganj, Patna,
Bihar. Their vision is to reach the unreached areas of Bihar with the liberating and transforming power of the Gospel. Hailing
from a Hindu family, Mahesh came to know the Lord after witnessing the healing and saving power of Christ in the life of his
brother. After completing his BTh and MDiv and having taught for two years in a seminary, Mahesh & his wife came to Paliganj
with nothing but a mat in hand, venturing thus into an arena of faith with a burning vision to see the Great Commission fulfilled;
so that a world steeped in superstition and oppression might come to know the light of truth and life in the face of Jesus
Christ. As a result, 800 people came to know Christ and publicly confessed the Lord in the waters of baptism. Presently working
in over 50 villages, there are 22 full-time evangelists and 25 part-time evangelists working with Bethel Mission Society.
The several programs include Church planting, Literacy, Child Development, and Bible Training programs. 10 children are presently
in the Bethel Children's Home.
Your prayerful support is highly coveted.
LITERACY PROGRAM
Illiteracy is one of the major problems and hindrances to the gospel in Bihar. Education is a great need. The Bethel
Mission School started in 2000 caters to this need presently giving education to about 80 children in Paliganj.
CHURCH PLANTING
Partnering with BORN Network Bihar and Seva Bharat, AP, Bethel Mission Society works with 47 evangelists covering over
50 villages. In the Training School of Bethel Mission, presently 10 young men are receiving training in the Word of God.
PALIGANJ
About 50 km from Patna, capital of Bihar, Paliganj is a village situated on the banks of Son and Punpun rivers. The word
Pali is derived from the Pali language. It is said that once Gautama Buddha was on way to Bodh Gaya and stayed here for a
week where he made many disciples. Gautama taught in the Pali language.
Paliganj is known as the red soil of Bihar for the high crime rate here. Caste related violence is high with several
antagonistic parties rising against each other seeking centuries old vengeance.
Please pray for our ministries.
